Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz is close to signing with EliteXC.
Ortiz, who sat cageside during EliteXC "Heat" on Saturday, was interviewed on air about his current contract status.
"We're working really close with EliteXC and I'd say we're about maybe a week away from signing the deal," Ortiz said.
On the telecast, EliteXC teased a possible rematch between Ortiz and commentator Frank Shamrock. Ortiz played along, saying he was "a young kid" when he lost to Shamrock at UFC 22 and it would be a different story if they fought now.
