Arlovski-Nelson added to Oct. 4 EliteXC on CBS

Andrei Arlovski will take on Roy Nelson at "CBS-EliteXC: Saturday Night Fights" in Sunrise, Florida on Oct. 4, EliteXC and Affliction Entertainment announced today.

Arlovski and Nelson were both slated to compete on the Oct. 11 Affliction "Day of Reckoning" card but were left without a fight with the postponement of the event.

"This is yet another testament to EliteXC's willingness to work with other MMA promotions to bring the best possible fights to the broadest possible audience," EliteXC's Jeremy Lappen said. "Special thanks to the hard working team at Affliction and of course our partners at CBS and Showtime."

Former UFC heavyweight champ Arlovski, not wanting to wait until January to compete again, jumped at the chance to fight on the EliteXC-CBS card. He'll be fighting the former IFL heavyweight champion Nelson, who has won his last five fights, four of which were by (T)KO.

"Big Country" made a name for himself in the IFL when he offered a solid challenge for the dominant Ben Rothwell, whose exit from the promotion for greener pastures would free the way for Nelson to storm through the division and capture the IFL heavyweight belt.

The extend of the partnership between Affliction and EliteXC right now is just this one bout. However, the two groups are in early discussions to co-promote fights in the future.

The televised card on CBS now looks like this:

265 lbs. | Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock
170 lbs. | Jake Shields vs. Paul Daley (Title Bout)
265 lbs. | Andrei Arlovski vs. Roy Nelson
140 lbs. | Gina Carano vs. Kelly Kobold
185 lbs. | Murilo "Ninja" Rua vs. Benji Radach
