Lyoto Machida out of UFC 89 'Bisping vs. Leben'

Lyoto Machida won't be competing at UFC 89 on October 18 in England as announced. The UFC has been unable to find a replacement for scheduled opponent Thiago Silva, who pulled out due to a back injury.

"There's no way to find an opponent now, and I'll have to wait another event to fight," Machida told Tatame. "I don't know who I'll face, the UFC didn't say anything yet, only that I won't fight at UFC 89."

Machida is coming off a decision win over Tito Ortiz at UFC 84 "Ill Will" in May.

Machida, who is arguably steps away from a title shot, also told the Brazilian magazine that he was surprised with Rashad Evans' knockout over Chuck Liddell. Machida added that he is predicting that current champ Forrest Griffin will retain his belt against Evans.
