Randy Couture: 'At 45, I Can't Sit Around for a Year, 2 Year, 3 Years...I Just Don't Have Time'

Randy Couture will appear on tonight's edition of Inside MMA, and in this clip he explains that the reason he decided to return to the UFC is that he realizes the clock is ticking on his career:

"I think what's first and foremost is still fighting for me," Couture said. "I'm still a fighter. And rather then spend time, money and energy fighting in courtrooms and litigation and all this other stuff, I'd rather fight in a cage. At 45 I realize that I can't sit around for a year, two years, three years, however long it takes for all this time to wind up. I just don't have that kind of time."

I think Couture made the right decision for exactly that reason: It's extraordinary that he's still one of the best fighters in the world in his mid-40s, but at some point he's going to have to quit. He's already given up more than a year of his career in this contract squabble, and it's time for him to go back to doing what he does best.
