Wanderlei Silva Expects to Fight at UFC 92

Wanderlei Silva says in this video that he plans to return to the Octagon before the year is out:

Silva said he expects to fight in December, presumably meaning December 27 on the UFC 92 undercard. The main event at UFC 92 is the heavyweight title fight between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir, and Silva referred to the show as "The best event of the year."

I think it could be the best event of the year, but only if Silva fights the guy everyone wants to see him against, former UFC light heavyweight champ Rampage Jackson. Silva won the first two times he fought Rampage, in Pride.

Silva says he has been working on his wrestling, which he thinks is the weakness of his game, as a guy with strong Brazilian jiu jitsu and Muay Thai skills.

I think it's good that Silva is taking time to work on his wrestling, but I would have liked to have seen Silva back in the Octagon sooner than December. It only took him 36 seconds to knock out Keith Jardine at UFC 84, and that was his only fight so far in 2008. It's surprising that he'll be inactive for more than seven months after that fight, but it's good to know that he's getting ready to get back into the Octagon again before the year is out.
