4-man tournament for UFC heavyweight title

The current UFC title mix, made up of two champions, a former champ and a 2-1 fighter is the closest thing right now to the UFC bringing back the tournament format.

The UFC announced Tuesday that Randy Couture will make his return against Brock Lesnar on Nov. 15 at UFC 91. The bout will be five rounds for Couture's UFC belt.

Already planned for Dec. is a title bout between interim champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir. Since the two are opposing coaches for the upcoming season of the already-taped "The Ultimate Fighter" on Spike TV, there was no way the UFC was going cancel the bout to book Nogueira vs. Couture.

With two separate title defenses going around, the UFC will resolve the issue by pitting the two winners against one another in early 2009 to crown an undisputed UFC heavyweight champion.
