Vitor Belfort injured, out of Affliction 2

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort has pulled out of his middleweight fight against Matt Lindland at the Oct. 11 Affliction 2 "Day of Reckoning" event in Las Vegas.

Belfort reinjured his broken left hand throwing the first punch against Terry Martin at Affliction "Banned" on July 19. Belfort fought through the injury and knocked out Martin at 3:12 of the second round.

"I'm doing physical therapy now and I won't be able to fight on Oct. 11," Belfort told TATAME. "I want to fight at 100 percent, so I'll be at the next show to fight for the title."

Belfort told TATAME that he will face the winner of Lindland and Lindland's new opponent at the third Affliction event at the end of the year. The title up for grabs will most likely be the Affliction title, as WAMMA COO Michael Lynch has confirmed to MMAFighting.com that the WAMMA title will not be on the line.
