DREAM may lose television deal

The upstart DREAM promotion may be finished by September if ratings do not improve, FEG President Sadaharu Tanigawa told Kamipro.

DREAM 5 on July 21, which featured the semifinals and final of the Lightweight Grand Prix, was considered a failure with its 10.0% rating for the Tokyo Broadcasting System.

Tanigawa told the Japanese magazine that DREAM will not be viable if it continues to pull in low ratings.

DREAM 5 was DREAM's second chance on primetime. The inaugural DREAM event on March 15 drew a dismal 8.9% that left TBS second to last.

The next DREAM event, featuring the finals of the Middleweight Grand Prix, takes place September 23 from the Saitama Super Arena.
