Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Thomson weigh-in results

Twelve bouts are official for the Strikeforce: Melendez versus Thomson event on Friday from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

The weigh-ins took place Thursday at the Dave & Busters at the Great Mall of the Bay in Milpitas.

Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez defends his title against friend Josh "The Punk" Thomson in the main event. Both weighed in at 155 pounds. For more on the matchup, the HDNet preview show "Unfiltered: Melendez vs. Thomson" is available here.

The only bout cancellation wasn't due to missed weight, but banned substances. Joe Riggs did not receive medical clearance from the California State Athletic Commission for a prescription drug he listed in his pre-fight medical form.

An attempt was made by Strikeforce to have Drew Fickett replace Riggs but even though Fickett wanted to take the fight, it was too close to his scheduled fight on July 25 at Maximum Fighting Championship 17. Riggs' opponent Luke Stewart will not compete on the card.
