Lawler, Smith to headline second CBS-EliteXC event

Robbie Lawler will give Scott Smith another shot at the EliteXC middleweight title on July 26 in the main event of EliteXC's second offering of "Saturday Night Fights" on CBS.

The two UFC veterans went to a no contest in the sole title bout on the first CBS-EliteXC show on May 31 when Smith took an unintentional finger to the eye in the third round. The doctors called the bout off when Smith responded that he couldn't see.

Lawler (15-4) won his belt in September 2007 when he stopped Murilo "Ninja" Rua at EliteXC "Uprising" in Hawaii. Before the no contest, Lawler was victorious in his past four bouts with his last five wins all by (T)KO.

Despite departing the UFC with a 1-3 record, Smith (13-4) was signed by EliteXC for his amazing come-from-behind knockout win against Pete Sell on "The Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale" card. Smith debuted for EliteXC in February, knocking out Kyle Noke seven seconds into the second round.

The venue for the event has not been announced.
