Belfort vs. Martin at July 19 Affliction event

Affliction is claiming that its July 19 event has "the greatest line-up of MMA fights ever presented in one night." The upstart promotion might just be right.

The clothing company and now MMA promotion added today a middleweight bout between former UFC light-heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort and 6-time UFC competitor Terry Martin.

Normally a matchup of this caliber could headline a local event or at least land on the main card of a mid-size to big-size show, but since the Affliction event is so stacked with top ranked fighters, Belfort and Martin will be fighting on the off-television portion of the card.

As previously reported on MMAFighting.com, Belfort (16-8) has been training at the Chute Boxe Academy for his return to the States after a two-fight stint with Cage Rage in the UK, where the Brazilian captured the promotion's light-heavyweight belt.

Martin (16-4) was on a roll in the UFC before exiting the company on two straight losses: a knockout loss to Chris Leben at UFC Fight Night 11, and a unanimous decision loss to Marvin Eastman at UFC 81. During his break from MMA competition, Martin tried his hand at boxing in April, knocking out his opponent in the first round of the cruiserweight bout.

The event takes place Saturday, July 19 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The main card titled "Affliction Banned" will air live on pay-per-view while one hour of the undercard dubbed "Affliction Live" will air on Fox Sports Net.
