I'm not sure if this will be good or bad for EliteXC's ratings on CBS, but not many people expect the main event of the first prime time network television mixed martial arts show to last more than a minute. That main event features Kimbo Slice (who has two pro fights that have lasted an average of 31 seconds) taking on James Thompson (who is 2-3 in his last five fights, all five of which were first-round knockouts).
I do worry a little bit that people who see MMA for the first time on Saturday night are not really going to be exposed to the sport, because the Slice-Thompson fight is going to end so quickly. That's why I'm thankful for Robbie Lawler.
