The two fighters who got the most face time, of course, were Kimbo Slice and Gina Carano, but I was glad to see that there was at least a little attention paid to Robbie Lawler, a middleweight who is EliteXC's best fighter.
EliteXC is an upstart organization without anywhere near the top-to-bottom mixed martial arts talent that UFC has, and while I was in Las Vegas covering UFC 84 I heard a lot of UFC partisans denigrating the quality of the fighters in EliteXC.
But the one guy no one denigrates is Lawler, who will fight Scott Smith Saturday. Lawler is a skilled fighter and an exciting fighter, and although not many people know his name today, they will next week.
