All twenty-two competitors made weight Friday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for Saturday's UFC 84: Ill Will event from the same venue.
Champion BJ Penn and challenger Sean Sherk both weighed in at 155 pounds for their headlining bout with the UFC lightweight title on the line.
"I know Sean Sherk's ready," Penn said. "If I got to kick it up a notch, that's what I got to do."
Sherk, who is returning from a six-month suspension for a positive steroid test, was relieved to be able to finally put that behind him. The Minnesota native told fans that they will be "in for a hell of a night" when the two square off.
Not shy to make a statement with the usage of t-shirts, former UFC light-heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz offered his latest: "Dana is my b*tch." Due to his differences with UFC President Dana White, Ortiz will leave the UFC after Saturday's fight with Lyoto Machida.
Goran Reljic, a UFC newcomer from Croatia, gave the evening's most menacing staredown, only to find his opponent Wilson Gouveia simply laughing it off.
UFC President Dana White was noticably missing. In his place to stand between opposing fighters was UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner.
