St-Pierre vs. Fitch at UFC 87; Coleman injured

Georges St-Pierre will defend his welterweight title against Jon Fitch at UFC 87 on Saturday, August 9 at Target Center in Minneapolis, the UFC announced Thursday.

St-Pierre (16-2) will be putting his belt on the line for the first time since stopping Serra for the belt last month at UFC 83 in Montreal.

Fitch (17-2), a product of the American Kickboxing Academy, is well deserving of the title shot. The former Purdue wrestler has won his last fifteen fights, including eight straight inside the UFC Octagon.

The UFC also announced that Mark Coleman has pulled out of his fight against Brock Lesnar due to a knee injury. The bout was first announced at UFC 82 on March 1, the night Coleman was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

Lesnar, who will have the support of his hometown fans in Minnesota, will remain on the card against an opponent to be announced.

Here is the current lineup for the UFC's first event in Minnesota:

170 lbs. | Georges St-Pierre vs. Jon Fitch
265 lbs. | Brock Lesnar vs. TBA
155 lbs. | Kenny Florian vs. Roger Huerta
265 lbs. | Cheick Kongo vs. Dan Evenson
