Hidehiko Yoshida vs. Maurice Smith at 'Sengoku 3'

Judo meets kickboxing when Olympic gold medalist Hidehiko Yoshida takes on former UFC heavyweight champion Maurice Smith on June 8 in the main event of "Sengoku 3" in Saitama, Japan.

Smith, 46, is a former World Kickboxing Association and World Kickboxing Council champion who switched gears to mixed martial arts with Pancrase in 1993. In his UFC debut, Smith captured the UFC heavyweight title by winning a unanimous decision over Mark Coleman. Smith defended it once against Tank Abbott before dropping the belt to Randy Couture. Smith is 2-0 since returning to active competition last year.

Despite losing his last three fights, Yoshida, 28, continues to be a huge draw in Japan due to his success in Judo at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. Yoshida lost to former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett at Sengoku 1 on March 5.
