Mixed martial arts still has a long way to go before the sport can play live to Madison Square Garden but that's not stopping the UFC from simulating the experience for New Yorkers.
The UFC has organized a viewing party to be hosted by welterweight champion Matt Serra at the world-famous venue in New York where the "Fight of the Century" took place in 1971 between Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali.
The viewing is of the pay-per-view, which means preliminary bouts will not be available. The perk for attendees is that there will be a Q&A session with Matt Serra at 8:30pm before the pay-per-view starts at 10pm.
The cost of admission to watch UFC 79 on the big screens with Serra is $30, or $25 if you purchase tickets before Dec. 22. Tickets go on sale Thursday, Dec. 6 at 10am ET for UFC Fight Club members. Enter the presale code "SERRA" and tickets can be bought Friday, Dec. 7. Otherwise, tickets for the general public will be offered Saturday, Dec. 8.
UFC 79: Nemesis happens Saturday, Dec. 29 from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Currently announced for the card are Matt Hughes vs. Georges St. Pierre, Chuck Liddell vs. Wandereli Silva and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou vs. Lyoto Machida.
