The fight card underneath Jon Jones vs. Chael Sonnen at UFC 159 on April 27 is beginning to shape up.
On Tuesday's edition of UFC tonight, a pair of fights were added to the event scheduled for the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.: A light heavyweight fight between Phil Davis and Vinny Magalhaes, and a hard-hitting heavyweight bout between Roy Nelson and Cheick Kongo.
Davis, the Alliance MMA product and former NCAA wrestling champion, is coming off a second-round victory over Wagner Prado, which improved his record to 10-1 with a no-contest. Magalhaes (10-5, 1 no-contest), meanwhile, made a successful return to the UFC when he submitted Igor Pokrajac at UFC 152 in September.
In the heavyweight fight, Nelson (18-7) has won three out of his past four fights, the most recent being his first-round knockout of Matt Mitrione in December. Kongo, who has been with the UFC since 2006, is 4-1-1 in his past six fights, the most recent being his UFC 149 victory over Shawn Jordan.
