Chad Mendes will try to get closer to another title shot when he faces Cody McKenzie at UFC 148 on Saturday night (Esther Lin, MMA Fighting).
LAS VEGAS -- This is the UFC 148 live blog for Chad Mendes vs. Cody McKenzie, a featherweight bout on Saturday night's UFC event at the MGM Grand.
Mendes, who is coming off his first career loss, will fight McKenzie, who has won two of his past four fights, on the main card.

Round 1: McKenzie charges across the cage and gets tagged right away. Surprising that he’s not more interested in maintaining his distance and using his reach, but okay. McKenzie fires off a kick and Mendes drills a right hand to the body that drops him in a heap. A few hammerfists from Mendes to a largely unresponsive McKenzie, and that’s all it takes.
