Gleison Tibau is one of 10 fighters on the UFC 148 undercard Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas (Esther Lin, MMA Fighting).
This is the UFC 148 undercard live blog for the Silva vs. Sonnen event at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
There will be five fights on the undercard. Gleison Tibau vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov, Melvin Guillard vs Fabrício Camoes, Constantinos Philippou vs. Riki Fukuda, John Alessio vs. Shane Roller and Rafaello Oliveira vs. Yoislandy Izquierdo will be featured on the prelims.

Rafaello Oliveira vs. Yoislandy Izquierdo
Round 1: Mario Yamasaki is the referee for our opening bout. Izquierdo whizzes a left hand past Oliveira's head before shaking off a takedown and pressing forward with a knee. Oliveira trades combinations, then changes levels and drags Izquierdo to the mat. Oliveira postures up and patiently transitions into side control against the fence. Izquierdo is completely stifled here, unable to do anything but fight off transition attempts. Oliveira snatches an arm and nearly secures an Americana, but Izquierdo fights it off and muscles his way back to the feet. Oliveira ducks under a wild swing and shoots in. Izquierdo sees the takedown coming, grabs double underhooks and uses Oliveira's momentum against him. Great takedown defense to end the round. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Izquierdo.
Round 2: Oliveira opens with a leg kick and Izquierdo quickly charges forward. Both fighters trading wild combinations. Oliveira slips another left hook and bulldozes Izquierdo to the ground. Oliveira, working from side control, avoids a triangle attempt, and someone is already bleeding. Looks like Oliveira is cut open on his forehead. Oliveira still feverishly hunting for submissions. Yamasaki stops the action to examine Oliveira's cut, but quickly resumes the action in side control. Oliveira looking for a mounted crucifix, unsuccessfully tries for another Americana, and another. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Oliveira.
Round 3: Oliveira grabs Izquierdo and wrestles him back to the mat a minute in, much to the anguish of an already restless crowd. Oliveira passes again to side control, the exact same script as the first two rounds. Blood is caked all over Izquierdo, who manages to squirm back to his feet briefly before being dragged back down. Oliveira, of course, working in side control. He finally gets his mounted crucifix, but quickly loses it after another failed Americana attempt. Izquierdo just can't escape, and the final seconds tick off the clock with both men in the exact position as the previous round. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Oliveira.

John Alessio vs. Shane Roller
Round 1: Josh Rosenthal oversees the first fight of the FX broadcast. Alessio and Roller circle each other in the center of the cage, gauging distance and winging jabs. Roller charges forward, fakes a shot and lands a solid left hook to Alessio's jaw. Roller goes at it again but this time connects on a low blow with a sickening 'thwack.' Well, that one was bad. Alessio takes his time, before the action eventually picks back up with both men trading exchanges. Roller changes levels for a takedown but can't get it. Alessio pushes Roller up against the fence and snatches a leg, looking for a takedown that never comes. Roller eats a few body shots and circles out, stalking forward. Alessio floors the wrestler with a wild left hook, but Roller is luckily saved by the bell. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Alessio.
Round 2: Alessio working his jab and staying busy early. Roller plods forward and eats a stiff counter for his troubles. Alessio walks Roller to the fence and drags the fight to the ground. Roller scrambles back to his feet after a failed guillotine attempt, reverses momentum and throws Alessio to the mat. Roller rains down elbows and short shots in half guard. Alessio tries unsuccessfully to stand but gives up his back to Roller in the process, who patiently latches both his hooks in. Thirty seconds remains and Roller is starting to blast Alessio with unanswered punches, but it's not enough. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Roller.
Round 3: The fight is up for grabs as both men meet in the center of the cage. Alessio charges forward with a salvo of on-target shots and Roller is hurt. Another uppercut cracks Roller against the fence. Alessio backs off and now Roller pushes on the offensive, dragging "The Natural" to the mat. Alessio hunts for a triangle from the bottom. He can't get it, but he uses the momentum to briefly stand before Roller throws him back down. Roller scrambles to Alessio's back and a clearly frustrated Alessio yelps, "Come on, let's fight!" Roller, with both hooks in and a body triangle, has complete control and rains down unanswered shots. Alessio squirms away and reverses to top position, where he frantically tries to unload on Roller. But it's too little, too late. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Roller.

Constantinos Philippou vs. Riki Fukuda
Round 1: Steve Mazzagatti is the man in charge of the action. Fukuda probing early with inside leg kicks against the orthodox stance of Philippou. Neither fighter willing to engage yet. And the boos start raining down already. Fukuda finally makes the first move, drops levels and wrestles Philippou down against the cage. Philippou stays patient and works his way back up. The former boxer stalking Fukuda, setting up his shots before letting loose with a stiff combination. Slow going to end the round. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Philippou.
Round 2: Philippou catches a leg kick and threatens a takedown before deciding against it. Philippou whizzes a straight left right down the pipe, defends a takedown and winds up against the fence. Fukuda releases the position after eating a few shots. Both fighters trading punches now. Philippou finds a home for his right hand, while Fukuda continues working leg kicks. Philippou blocks a head kick, circles left and eats another leg kick, which may or may not have grazed his family jewels. After a brief breather, Fukuda opens back on the agressive. Twenty seconds left and neither fighter is willing to commit to anything significant. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Philippou.
Round 3: Fukuda's corner imploring their fighter to push the pace to open the final round. Fukuda lunges forward and connects with a solid right hook. Philippou successfully fights off a takedown attempt and circles back out. Fukuda lands a body kick, only to be answered by a sharp combination from Philippou. Another Fukuda takedown gets stuffed. More restless boos start to rain down from the crowd. Fukuda connects with massive body kick, but pokes Philippou in the eye in the process. Oh wow, this one is bad. Philippou screaming in agony on the mat. This fight might be stopped. The on-sight doctor tells Mazzagatti to give Philippou some time to "see if it clears up." Dang, a noticeably furious Philippou asks to continue immediately. Philippou storms forward and he smells blood. Fukuda works towards the fence, then circles out to the center of the cage. Thirty seconds left and Philippou continues to press forward, landing a stiff right hand as the final horn sounds. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Philippou.

Melvin Guillard vs. Fabrício Camoes
Round 1: Yves Lavigne is the referee for this lightweight battle. Neither fighter touches gloves to start. Guillard opens up early on his feet. Camoes changes levels for a single-leg but Guillard counters then shakes it off. Camoes lunges forward with a superman punch, misses, but nearly gets a takedown in the process. Guillard calmly circles back to the center of the Octagon and gauges his distance. "The Young Assassin" catches a kick and traps Camoes against the fence with a salvo of punches, but nothing lands clean. Guillard slips a jab and, surprisingly, wrestles Camoes down to the mat. Guillard steps over into half guard. Though it's short lived, as Camoes quickly reverses to top position. Camoes sweeps to full mount and the blows start raining down. Guillard nearly gives up his neck, but Camoes over-extends and Guillard scampers back up. Camoes misses with a kick and tumbles down to the mat, with Guillard following him. Guillard landing punches from the top as the round comes to a close. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Guillard.
Round 2: Guillard attacks first with a left hook. Camoes double jabs and backs the American up. Another lunging left hook from Guillard, and another. Nothing landing clean for either fighter. Camoes grazes Guillard with a spinning heel kick, then unsuccessfully shoots for a takedown. Camoes tries again and this he gets it this time, briefly dragging Guillard to the ground. The Brazilian crowd explodes with chants of, "Brazil!" Camoes is loving it, and he uses the energy to work Guillard down against the fence. Guillard stands, barely eats a spinning back elbow, then takes his opponent's back. "The Young Assassin" starts pummeling the Brazilian's head and body with unanswered shots. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Guillard.
Round 3: Guillard bouncing on his heels as a "U, S, A!" chant erupts from the crowd. Both fighters trade combinations as the chants of "Brazil!" return. Guillard leaps forward with a left hook but it's blocked. Another pair of lefts miss and "The Young Assassin" circles. Guillard staying patient, prying with his jab from distance. Camoes rips into Guillard with a leg kick, then just misses with a front kick. Guillard slips a head kick, defends a single leg and backs out. Guillard briefly trips and scrambles back to his feet, before defending another takedown attempt. Camoes eventually drags the fight to the mat and starts working on a leglock. Ten seconds left and Guillard looks like he'll survive. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Guillard.

Gleison Tibau vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
Round 1: Referee Mario Yamasaki kicks off the action. Tibau already looking like he has a massive size advantage over the Russian. Nurmagomedov lunges in with a wild left hook. Tibau blocks a body kick and presses forward. Nurmagomedov shoots in for a leg, but Tibau just hops out of it and, after some clinch work against the fence, throws his opponent off. Nurmagomedov shoots back in for another takedown, but again it's unsuccessful and this time the Russian eats a few knees to the body in the process. Like clockwork, Nurmagomedov attempts to drag the fight to the mat but is once more rebuffed by Tibau to close the round. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Tibau.
Round 2: Both fighters pacing themselves to open the second frame. Tibau slips a punch and staggers Nurmagomedov with a counter left. Nurmagomedov charges forwards, trying unsuccessfully to wrestle Tibau to the mat. Looks like the Russian might want to switch up strategies. Now it's Tibau who shoots in on Nurmagomedov, and this time he gets the takedown. Nurmagomedov quickly stands and gives the level change another chance, but once again, it fails. Yamasaki separates the fighters after the action stalls on the fence. Nurmagomedov connects with a loud right hand as the round comes to an end. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Tibau.
Round 3: A desperate Nurmagomedov applying the pressure early on the feet. Tibau gets himself trapped against the fence, but he isn't getting taken down anytime soon. Tibau 11-for-11 on takedown defenses so far. Nurmagomedov frustratedly backs off and misses wildly with an overhand right. Tibau changes levels and muscles Nurmagomedov down, briefly getting his back before standing back up. Nurmagomedov traps Tibau against the cage wall, but the takedown eludes him once again. Yamasaki warns the Russian to stop grabbing the fence and the fighters disengage. Both fighters exchange combinations but nothing significant lands. Nurmagomedov storms forward, missing a few last-ditch, homerun swings as the horn sounds. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Tibau.
