After years of waiting to make his UFC debut, things went about as well as Glover Teixeira might have dreamed.
The Brazilian bomber roughed up Kyle Kingsbury in the early going of their UFC 146 prelim and then transitioned to a fight-ending arm triangle choke in just 1:53 of the first round.
Teixeira, a longtime training partner of Chuck Liddell, has long been considered one of the best light-heavyweights outside of the UFC.
He came into the fight riding a 15-fight win streak, and he looked every bit of the wrecking machine as his reputation indicated.
The 32-year-old put the rest of the division on notice, saying he'd earned his green card and wasn't going anywhere. His arrival was a long time coming. Way back in 2008, he reportedly signed with the organization before visa issues torpedoed that opportunity.
He improved to 18-2 with the win.
Kingsbury fell to 11-4 with 1 no contest after dropping his second straight in the octagon.
