Check out the live blog below.
Round 1: Jabouin opens up with a sharp leg kick and a jab that sticks Hougland. A Dennis Siver-esque spinning back kick from Jabouin nails Hougland in the bread basket and forces him back. Lots of feints, and lots of strikes from just a little too far out. Both guys still trying to find their range, though Jabouin seems a little faster so far. Another kick by Jabouin pushes Hougland back again. Another spinning back kick by Jabouin, and Hougland clutches his midsection as he collapses to the mat. The referee steps in as if he may stop it, and Jabouin delays a moment before following up. When he finally gets in there, he hammers Hougland with hammerfists and punches, and it could be stopped. Hougland keeps moving though, and does just enough to stay in it and survive the round. MMA Fighting scores it 10-8 for Jabouin.
Round 2: Hougland looks for a takedown to start the second, but Jabouin isn’t going down that easily. He slips out of Hougland’s grasp and brings it back to the center, landing another front kick to the body moments later. Hougland tries some spinning stuff of his own with a backfist, but he’s not as successful with it. Hougland gets in deep with a takedown attempt, but can’t finish it. Hougland lands a body kick of his own, but Jabouin takes it well. Jabouin comes back with a leg kick that buckles Hougland in the final minute, but there are no major fireworks to finish this one. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Jabouin.
Round 3: Left hand by Jabouin in the opening seconds of the third drops Hougland. He’s got a long way to go. Jabouin pours on the strikes as Hougland tries to regain his wits. One such strike seems to be a blatant back of the head shot by Jabouin, but we carry on nonetheless. Jabouin is wailing away, but Hougland manages to survive and even briefly put Jabouin on his back. It saves him for the moment, but Jabouin reverses and goes to work with some ground-and-pound from the top with about three minutes still to go. Hougland battles on gamely from his back as time winds down. Jabouin seems to have given up on finishing this guy, and is instead staying busy from the top as he tries to ride it out. Our ref -- who seems intent on bloodshed -- calls for a stand-up in the final minute. Jabouin almost immediately drops him back down with a head kick, then adds some strikes from the top as the time ticks down. Give Hougland credit for surviving. This could have been over several times. MMA Fighting scores it 10-8 for Jabouin.
