Would it surprise you to hear that Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit won Fight of the Night on Saturday night? If so, you probably should go watch another sport.
St-Pierre and Condit battled for 25 thrilling minutes at the Bell Centre in Montreal in UFC 154's main event. The UFC welterweight champion reminded everyone why he's one of MMA's pound-for-pound greats in defeating Condit, who was valiant in defeat and nearly stole the fight with a hellacious third-round head kick.
The two pocketed an extra $70,000 apiece for their Fight of the Night-winning efforts.
The winners of the night's other awards were just as clear-cut. Johny Hendricks demonstrated his heavy hands once again with his one-punch knockout of Martin Kampmann, one which likely makes him the number-one contender at 170 pounds. He took Knockout of the Night honors with his 46-second win.
And veteran Ivan Menjivar was just as picture-perfect in scoring Submission of the Night honors. The Salvadorean-Canadian scored a beautiful armbar on Azamat Gashimov in the first round to win for the fourth time in his past five fights. He also pockets $70K.
