MRI Reveals No Tears To Efrain Escudero's Elbow; May 29 Bout Possible

UFC lightweight prospect and season eight winner of The Ultimate Fighter Efrain Escudero received a positive prognosis from a recent MRI, and suffered no tearing in his right elbow as the result of an arm bar loss to Evan Dunham at UFC Fight Night 20 in January.
MMA Fighting was informed of the news by Escudero's manager, Jason Genet.
Escudero (13-1) suffered a sprained elbow and still has swelling from the injury, but Genet says he'll still be ready to fight if the UFC calls on him for a May 29 date. Recent rumors suggested he will be paired against Dan Lauzon at UFC 114.
Report: Boston UFC Event to Take Place on Aug. 28

It didn't take the UFC long to make good on their promise to come to Boston.Just two weeks after Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick signed a bill into law sanctioning mixed martial arts, the UFC has tentatively scheduled a date for Aug. 28 at TD Garden. Organization President Dana White broke the news to Dan Duggan of The Boston Herald.
"I'm going to put on a show that's going to blow the [expletive] roof off that place," White told the Herald.
Takanori Gomi vs. Brett Cooper Not Happening at Affliction

Takanori Gomi (30-5) will not be facing Brett Copper (9-4) at "Affliction: Trilogy" on August 1.
MMA Weekly reported early Thursday morning that the 165-pound catchweight bout was close to being finalized, but Affliction Entertainment VP, Tom Atencio, told FanHouse on Thursday that after brief consideration, the fight is not happening.
Rothwell vs. Gormely Booked for Affliction

Former IFL heavyweight star, Ben Rothwell, will return to Affliction on August 1 to face up-and-coming Chase Gormley. The Vice President of Affliction Entertainment, Tom Atencio, informed FanHouse of the news at Wednesday's "Affliction: Trilogy" press conference in New York City.Rothwell lost to Andrei Arlovski in the first Affliction show last July, but has since recorded a first round submission victory against Chris Guillen at Adrenaline MMA 2 in December.
