During the first round of Saturday's UFC 102 main event, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira knocked Randy Couture down and attempted to submit him with a D'Arce choke -- a move that was named after Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt Joe D'Arce. To find out more about the move, I called D'Arce at his gym, D'Arce Brazilian Jiu Jitsu of Long Island, and asked him to explain the move's origins and how it came to bear his name.

In the summer of 2008, Kevin Burns was working a day job and doing a little MMA fighting on the side, until he got his big break when the UFC offered him an opportunity to fight Roan Carneiro at UFC 85. Carneiro is a Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt, but Burns shocked everyone by submitting him with a triangle choke. In an interview with FanHouse, Burns told me how the triangle choke works and what makes it effective.

Today UFC fighter Krzysztof Soszynski tells us about the kimura.At UFC 97, Krzysztof Soszynski took Brian Stann to the ground, latched onto his wrist and forced him to tap out with a kimura, a submission hold that puts pressure on the shoulder. If Stann was taken by surprise, he shouldn't have been: It was Soszynski's third straight fight in which he submitted his opponent with a kimura. Below, Soszynski (who will return to the Octagon on May 23 to fight Andre Gusmao at UFC 98) tells us all about his favorite submission move.
