This is the Strikeforce live blog for K.J. Noons vs. Josh Thomson, a lightweight bout on tonight's Strikeforce event from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Noons (11-4) snapped a two-fight losing streak in December when he defeated Billy Evangelista via unanimous decision. Thomson (18-4) last fought on New Year's Eve 2010, losing to Tatsuya Kawajiri in a decision.

Round 1: Both fighters open orthodox. Thomson lands a jumping front kick early, but it's not a fight ender. Thomson tries to land a flying heel hook, but gets nowhere. Both fighters landing intermittent punches and kicks, but nothing major. Thomson tries for a single and kicks out Noons' post, but Noons is struggling to stand. Noons rolling to escape, but Thomson still on top, alternating between half guard and various scramble positions.

Round 2: Noons fires a Superman punch, but doesn't land much. Thomson attempts a head kick, but slips and now Noons is in half guard. Thomson uses a leg ride to stand and now he's attempting to take Noons down by pressing him into the fence. It works. Noons is trying to stand, but Thomson using various leg rides and hip control to keep Noons planted. Referee stands them up and Noons lands several hard hooks to the body. And uppercuts. Noons walking forward with abandon and stuffs Thomson's double. Thomson reshots, however, and Noons is back down.

Round 3: Thomson looks gassed here, but is still moving. And just like that, lands an outside trip right into a side choke. Somehow Noons escapes, but now Thomson has his back. Thomson flattens Noons out and now Noons rolls back down, capturing half guard. Noons makes attempts at scrambling the rest of the round, but couldn't get anything going.
