The MMA scene in the Middle East continues to grow, and the new Dubai Fight Championship will look to capitalize on that popularity beginning with their first event next month.

DFC officials recently announced that their inaugural event, dubbed DFC 1: The Beginning, will take place May 4 at the Habtoor Grand Beach Resort in Dubai Marina. The promotion's first main event will feature veteran Ricco Rodriguez (48-17) vs. Stav Economou (12-2).

Other notable names on the card include TUF Live contestant Jon Tuck, who lost to Al Iaquinta in the elimination round (and also suffered a gruesome toe injury in the process), local favorite Malik Omarov, BJJ black belt Michel Maia and veteran Fabricio Nascimento.
