According to a report on Sherdog.com, Fitch's management Zinkin Entertainment reached out to UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta and successfully renegotiated to bring Fitch back to the UFC.
Fitch had his promotional contract terminated on Wednesday after refusing to sign an agreement that would give the UFC lifetime rights to his likeness for videogames. As part of his deal to return, Fitch has signed the same contract for the UFC to use his likeness for the THQ-developed "UFC 2009 Undisputed" video game slated for release Spring 2009.
Also, UFC president Dana White will cool down on his pledge to not do business with American Kickboxing Academy fighters. Christian Wellisch will return with Fitch, and the UFC will negotiate with Cain Velasquez and Josh Koscheck once their contracts are up.
Fitch's fight versus Akihiro Gono will likely be back on for UFC 94: St-Pierre vs. Penn on January 31, 2009.
