Jordan (42-12-2) has won nineteen of his last twenty bouts since his one appearance inside the UFC Octagon, at UFC 61, in a loss to Hermes Franca via triangle choke. Jordan last competed at the inaugural Adrenaline MMA event in June, winning a unanimous decision over Ryan Williams. Despite his solid record, Jordan has come up short against bigger name opponents such as Jorge Gurgel, Bart Palaszewski, Clay Guida and Rich Clementi.
Ford (6-0) solidified his status as the MFC poster boy in February with his rear naked choke submission win over UFC veteran Pete Spratt at MFC 15: Rags to Riches. None of Ford's six wins have gone past the second round.
UFC veteran Drew Fickett was originally scheduled to face Ford for the title belt, but became entangled in a public feud with MFC promoter Mark Pavelich for wanting to take a Strikeforce fight against Joe Riggs less than five weeks before the MFC fight. Claiming breach of contract, Pavelich removed Fickett from the title fight and banned him from ever fighting in the MFC.
MFC 17 will be carried live on HDNet from the River Cree Resort & Casino in Enoch, Alberta, Canada.
