Mixed martial arts goes into effect today in Tennessee

Mixed martial arts events will be soon be held in Tennessee with the help of a new measure that goes into effect Tuesday.

Thanks to the House Bill 2633/Senate Bill 3836, the newly created Tennessee Athletic Commission will officially begin legalizing and regulating amateur and professional events.

The Tennessee Athletic Commission will take over the duties of the Tennessee Department of Commerce, which previously regulated boxing and kickboxing events.

The FedEx Forum in Memphis and the Sommet Center in Nashvillle are two large venues possible for mixed martial arts events.
