The second UFC middleweight champion, after defeating Dave Menne, Bustamante was seen as one of the next great Brazilian Jiu Jitsu talents to enter MMA. A 6th degree blackbelt in the discipline, he won the CBJJ world championships in 1999. After winning the UFC title Bustamante notoriously left the organization and signed with Pride FC. He made it to the 2005 welterweight Grand Prix finals where he faced Dan Henderson for the tournament title.
