A UFC and Pride vet who competed in MMA from 1996 to 1997. The 60th Yokozuna in professional Sumo history, Kitao was also the first to never win a top tournament. Soon after being promoted to Yokozuna he was forced out of professional Sumo following a falling out with his stable master and a string of embarrassing performances. He then became a professional wrestler with New Japan Pro Wrestling and, like many Japanese pro wrestlers at the time, made several forays into MMA competition.
