Joe Moreira

UFC vet who competed from 1996 to 2002. One of the most experienced BJJ and Judo black belts to ever compete in the UFC, Moreira was a student of the Gracie family who eventually earned his black belt under Francisco Mansour. He eventually moved to the US, with plans to work as a Gracie instructor, but after those plans fell apart he opened his own chain of Jiu Jitsu schools across the US and is responsible for being one of the principal organizers of competitive Jiu Jitsu in America. He also caused some controversy by taking on Kimo Leopoldo as a BJJ student, and for awarding Marco Ruas with his BJJ black belt.
