This is the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat.
Today on the podcast, we'll look ahead to this weekend's UFC 212 event from Rio de Janeiro. We'll examine the stakes in the main event between Jose Aldo and Max Holloway, what it means for the featherweight division and more. The fight card isn't filled with stars, but carries some promise, so we'll go over some of the better fights as well.
There's no talking about mixed martial arts these days without some kind of nod toward the mess that is the women's featherweight division. How did we get here and how do we fix it? Mercifully, if Cris Cyborg is willing to play ball, there is a reasonable solution to this. Still, it's a lesson in what to do and not do when facing similar circumstances going forward.
UFC Stockholm is in the books and it's worth considering Alexander Gustafsson's return to the top of the light heavyweight contender pool. Can he beat Daniel Cormier or Jon Jones in a rematch? What to make of his strong words of dislike towards Jones, personally? We'll go over this now simmering issue.
