Diego Brandao is putting together the pieces of an impressive post-UFC run.
Just months after scoring one of the year’s best submissions, a helicopter armbar over Murad Machaev that went viral, Brandao demolished Russian veteran Vener Galiev with a 39-second knockout in the main event of Fight Nights Global 67 on Thursday. Brandao crushed Galiev early with a wicked right hand, then swarmed and finished his hurt opponent to move to 2-0 since his UFC release due to a felony arrest.
Brandao, 29, pushed his record to 21-11 with the win. A former winner of The Ultimate Fighter 14, Brandao racked up a 6-4 UFC run before his April 2016 release from the promotion.
