A local heavyweight will get his chance at the big show on May 13, as Dallas prospect Rashad Coulter has been added to UFC 211 as a short-notice replacement for Dmitry Poberezhets in a preliminary card bout against Chase Sherman. Dallas outlet SportsDay first reported the switch on Tuesday.
Coulter (8-1) is a 35-year-old heavyweight who now makes his UFC debut on less than two weeks’ notice in his hometown. Nicknamed “Daywalker,” Coulter has won all eight of his victories via KO/TKO and rides a five-fight winning streak into the bout, highlighted by a 38-second knockout of Larry Hopkins at LFA 1 in January.
He’ll look to capitalize on that momentum against Sherman (9-3), a 27-year-old heavyweight who has thus far dropped both of his appearances in the UFC. Sherman suffered a unanimous decision loss to Justin Ledet last year in his Octagon debut, then sustained a vicious knockout loss at the hands of Walt Harris this past January.
In addition, a light heavyweight contest pitting Joachim Christensen (14-4) against Gadzhimurad Antigulov (19-4) has also been added to UFC 211’s card.
UFC 211 takes place May 13 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The event is headlined by a championship double-header, as heavyweight kingpin Stipe Miocic meets Junior dos Santos in a rematch, and strawweight titleholder Joanna Jedrzejczyk takes on Brazilian challenger Jessica Andrade.
