Paul Daley called out Rory MacDonald after scoring a vicious knockout in his last appearance inside the Bellator cage, and he got the fight he was hoping for.
Bellator officially announced on Thursday that “Semtex" will battle “Red King” in the main event of Bellator 179. The event takes place May 19 at London’s SSE Arena.
Daley (39-14-2) headlined Bellator’s last card in London, when he suffered a unanimous decision defeat to current champion Douglas Lima. Six months after the loss, the welterweight returned to action and stopped Brennan Ward with a flying knee.
MacDonald (18-4) is set to make his Bellator debut after a 9-4 run under the UFC banner, which included wins over the likes of Nate Diaz, B.J. Penn, Demian Maia and current UFC champion Tyron Woodley. MacDonald left the UFC following back-to-back losses to Robbie Lawler and Stephen Thompson.
