Now that he's back in the win column, Mystic Mac has regained his swagger.
UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor was a bit subdued after his loss to Nate Diaz in March. But now that he's avenged his only UFC defeated by taking the August rematch, and now that he's headlining the UFC's debut in New York City, McGregor's back in peak form.
At Tuesday's UFC 205 press conference at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, McGregor wasted little time getting into it with UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, who McGregor will challenge on Nov. 12.
After Alvarez interrupted McGregor during the presser, McGregor went right after his opponent -- and called his shot for the fight.
"Shut your f***ing mouth," McGregor told Alvarez. "I love New York. I run this whole s**t. And Mystic Mac predicts I'm going to KO you inside of one round."
With a victory, McGregor would become the first fighter ever to hold simultaneous multiple weight class titles in the UFC. Before the flareup, McGregor, who won the featherweight title in December and fought his last two fights at welterweight, said 155 pounds is where he feels most comfortable.
"I'm very happy with the 155-pound weight limit. I feel like with all the divisions I ran around and ran through, 155 I feel will be the one where I take over the most."
