Anthony Johnson is done sitting on his hands. He wants a title shot in November, and he wants everyone to know it.
On Thursday, "Rumble" posted a clear and concise message to Daniel Cormier and the UFC on Facebook: He wants a chance at the light heavyweight belt at UFC 205 in New York.
"To headline the the event in Maddison Square Garden is a once in a lifetime opportunity," Johnson wrote. "Let's do it! Balls in your court Daniel Enough of this waiting game that you or UFC is playing!"
Cormier was quick to respond on Twitter, telling Johnson that New York is probably out, but UFC 207 on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas is in play.
u deserve shot. I'm not waiting! Sorry bud NYC won't happen. But you can get it again Dec 30th. #downgoesrumble https://t.co/QdZeOFtiHk

A main event for UFC 205 has yet to be announced, but MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani has reported that the top choice is a lightweight title fight between champion Eddie Alvarez and challenge Conor McGregor, the UFC featherweight champ. UFC president Dana White has said that he's interested in doing a bout between the suspended Jon Jones and Johnson before giving "Rumble" a title shot against Cormier.
It remains unclear how long Jones will be out. He's likely to go in front of the Nevada Athletic Commission either this month of next after testing positive for two banned substances and being pulled from his fight with Cormier that would have been at UFC 200 in July.
Meanwhile, Johnson has been dismantling the best fighters in the division. He's coming off a 13-second knockout against the typically durable Glover Teixeira at UFC 202 last month. Before that, he knocked out Ryan Bader and Jimi Manuwa.

Johnson's only loss since 2012 came in a fight for the vacant light heavyweight title to Cormier at UFC 187 in May 2015. "Rumble" was supposed to challenge Jones in that fight, but Jones had to pull out due to his suspension following a felony hit-and-run arrest in April 2015.
"When Jon got into trouble and was removed from my title fight, I accepted you as an opponent on 3 weeks notice despite the dramatic change in fight style," Johnson wrote. "You were the better man that night and took the belt. I didn't demand an immediate rematch, it was well within my rights to do so."
Cormier beat Anderson Silva, a late-notice replacement, at UFC 200 by unanimous decision. He has also stated that it makes sense for him to fight Johnson yet.
It's just unknown if or when that will happen.
"DC I want to fight you in New York City on Nov 12," Johnson wrote. "We got 7.5 weeks to get ready and put on a fight for the fans of New York and the world to remember. It is our time to do battle!"
