Welterweight Leon Edwards returns to the Octagon to fight Albert Tumenov at UFC 204 in his home country of England. The news was announced by the promotion on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Edwards last fought at UFC Fight Night 87 back in May where he defeated Dominic Waters via unanimous decision. The British fighter is 3-2 since joining the UFC back in 2014, and 11-3 as professional fighter.
His opponent, Tumenov, is comming off a submission loss to Gunnar Nelson in the same card Edwards last fought in. That loss snapped a five-fight winning streak in the UFC that included victories over notable opponents such as Lorenz Larkin, Alan Jouban and Nico Musoke. The 24-year-old Russian is 17-3 as a professional fighter, and 5-2 in the UFC.
UFC 204 takes place on Oct. 8 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Middleweight champion Michael Bisping is scheduled to defend his newly crowned belt against MMA veteran Dan Henderson in the main event of the card.
