Demetrious Johnson won’t defend his title at UFC 201.
The first and only UFC flyweight champion has suffered an injury and will be forced to postpone his clash with Wilson Reis, MMA Fighting has confirmed with sources following a report by Combate.
Johnson (24-2-1) was looking to defend his title for the ninth time versus Reis, entering the bout coming off 10 straight victories with five finishes.
Reis (20-6) earned a shot at the gold after beating Dustin Ortiz via unanimous decision in January. The Brazilian is 3-1 after cutting down to flyweight in 2014.
UFC 201 is scheduled for July 30 at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, and features Robbie Lawler vs. Tyron Woodley for the welterweight championship in the main event.
