Page dropped "Cyborg" with a vicious flying knee in the second round of their welterweight contest at the O2 Arena in London, and the Brazilian told MMA Fighting on Sunday that he’s currently at the hospital with a serious fracture in his forehead.
"I’m under observation now, and will have surgery in the United States," Santos told MMA Fighting. "I had a serious injury, but Bellator is giving me all the support I need."
Santos took the fight on short notice after going 1-1 in his previous Bellator fights, and says that this injury will kept him sidelined for a while, but doesn’t mean the end of his mixed martial arts career.
"I’ll be back soon," he said.
According to an Instagram post from Santos' ex-wife Cris Cyborg, a gofundme account is being created to help the 38-year-old veteran fighter. (Ed. Note: Here is the link to the gofundme.)
Bellator color commentator Jimmy Smith added on Twitter that a former ENT told him that he had "only seen an injury like that in a severe car crash."
