Another season of Combate Americas action kicks off next month in downtown Los Angeles.
Team Alpha Male prospect Erick Sanchez (7-2) will face off against Puerto Rico's Tito Cruz (5-2) in the main event of the Aug. 11 event, which will air live on UFC Fight Pass.
Sanchez, whose resume includes victories in Bellator and World Series of Fighting, has won three in a row, most recently a first-round submission against Mike Segura at Combate Americas' April 18 event. Cruz, fighting out of San Diego's Team Hurricane Awesome, looks to shake off a submission loss to Emilio Chavez at the same event.
The co-feature bout is a women's atomweight scrap, as Las Vegas' Kyra Batara (5-3) takes on Olympia, Wash.'s Lisa Ellis (15-10). The 4-foot-11 Batara is 3-0 in Combate Americas, with first-round TKOs in each of her past two fights. Ellis competed as a strawweight in the UFC, where lost her past two fights.
Rounding out the main card is a flyweight bout between Texas' Jonathan Martinez (8-1) and Portland's Benjamin Vinson (8-3-1); another flyweight matchup between Heinrich Wassmer (4-0) of Los Angeles and Benji Gomez (5-5) of Oxnard, Calif.; and a featherweight bout between Izic Fernanedez (2-1) of Santa Ana, Calif. and Marcos Bonila (3-2) of Los Angeles.
"We are excited to be back in action on UFC Fight Pass with a tremendous fight card featuring the best, up-and-coming Hispanic fighters in the U.S., some of whom have been climbing the ranks with explosive performances under our promotion since last year and others whom we recently recruited because of their outstanding results elsewhere," said Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren.
