Get that comeback talk going.
Ronda Rousey stars in a new Reebok commercial, posted to YouTube on Monday, and references her loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 back in November.
"Perfect never gets truly tested," Rousey says in the ad. "Perfect never gets to silence its critics. Perfect never gets a shot at redemption. So yeah. I'm fine with not being perfect."
Rousey, 29, has not fought since that knockout defeat against Holm. She lost the women's bantamweight title and her undefeated record that night in Melbourne, Australia. The division has been in flux since then. Holm dropped the belt to Miesha Tate at UFC 196 in March. Then, at UFC 200 over the weekend, Amanda Nunes knocked Tate out in the first round to claim the title.
UFC president Dana White has said repeatedly that when Rousey is ready to come back — perhaps the end of the this year or early 2017 — that she will get an immediate title shot. Rousey (12-1) was one of the most dominant fighters on the planet before that shocking loss.
"Rowdy" has also been very busy in Hollywood during this time off from the Octagon. And to add a new wrinkle to this ongoing storyline, her talent agency WME-IMG just purchased the UFC.
Seems like the "perfect" time for a return.
