A bantamweight bout between Norifumi Yamamoto and Chris Beal has been added to UFC Fight Night 89. The UFC announced the news on Friday.
Yamamoto (18-6-2 NC) last competed back in February 2015 at UFC184 against Roman Salazar. That fight was declared a no contest after Salazar wasn't able to continue to fight due to an accidental eye poke. The 39-year-old Yamamoto, who at one point was considered to be one of the best fighters in the world, is currently 1-5 in his past six performances.
Meanwhile, Beal (10-2) is returning to the bantamweight division after having an 0-2 run in the UFC's flyweight division. Beal last victory was in the bantamweight division where he defeated Tateki Matsuda via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 50 on September 2014.
UFC Fight Night 89 takes place on June 18 at the TD Place Arena in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Top welterweight contenders Rory MacDonald and Stephen Thompson are schedule to headline the card.
