Throughout their UFC on FOX 19 featherweight matchup, it seemed either Cub Swanson or Hacran Dias was inches away from landing a huge, fight-changing blow, as both guys threw haymakers which didn't quite land.
Until late in the bout, that is. Swanson landed a big head kick late in the third round which didn't quite finish the fight, but sealed the victory in an unanimous decision win at Tampa's Amalie Arena.
The judges scores were 29-28 across the board, as Swanson ended a two-fight losing streak.
The opening round featured both fighters trying to find one another's range, as each just missed on several big shots.
Swanson started to take over the fight in the second, however, as he dropped Dias (23-4-1), a Nova Uniao fighter, with a big left hook en route winning the round.
Dias was still in the fight over the final five minutes, but Swanson's head kick, and subsuequent flurries of offense for the remainder of the round, sealed the deal.
With the win, Swanson, a Jackson's MMA fighter, improved to 22-7.
