Aljamain Sterling will finally get the fight he's been asking for. Sterling is scheduled to face Bryan Caraway in a bantamweight bout at UFC Fight Night 88. The news was reported by Newsday on Thursday.
Sterling (12-0), who recently signed a new contract with the UFC after exploring free agency, is looking to stay undefeated and get one step closer towards UFC gold. 'The Funk Master' last competed at UFC Fight Night 80 on December 2015 where he defeated Johnny Eduardo via second round submission. Sterling is currently ranked number five in the division and is 4-0 in the UFC.
Ranked No. 8 in the division, Caraway (20-7) hasn't competed since July 2015 when he outpointed former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland at UFC on Fox 16. Prior to that, Caraway dropped a unanimous decision to Raphael Assunção, snapping a two-fight winning streak that included wins over Johnny Bedford and Erik Perez.
UFC Fight Night 88 takes place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. on May 29. Bantamweight prospects Thomas Almeida and Cody Garbrandt are scheduled to headline the card.
