The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) on Wednesday issued a temporary suspension to former UFC fighter Konstantin Erokhin following the Russian heavyweight's failed drug test at The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale on Dec. 11 in Las Vegas, NV.
Erokhin (9-3) tested positive for the anabolic steroid drostanolone in a pre-fight in-competition test ahead of a lethargic unanimous decision loss against Gabriel Gonzaga, after which he was released by the UFC.
The drug screening was administered by Quest Diagnostics at the behest of the NAC, rather than USADA.
A 34-year-old heavyweight fighting out of Moscow, Erokhin is expected to face a formal hearing for the failed test at a commission meeting at a later date.
Erokhin went 0-2 under the UFC umbrella, losing back-to-back decisions against Viktor Pesta and Gonzaga, the latter of which was widely criticized for its inaction.
Prior to signing with the UFC, Erokhin racked up nine straight wins, highlighted by knockouts of Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Dave Huckaba, as well as a decision over Brett Rogers.
