John Lineker’s second UFC fight as a bantamweight won’t take place in Pittsburgh.
Scheduled to take on undefeated Cody Garbrandt at Sunday’s UFC Fight Night event, Lineker will be sidelined due to dengue fever, sources close to the situation told MMAFighting.com after a report by PVT.
The UFC has yet to announce if Garbrandt will get a new opponent for the Feb. 21 event.
Lineker (26-7) impressed in his bantamweight debut last September, tapping Francisco Rivera with a guillotine after a wild exchange. The Brazilian moved up to 135 pounds after failing to make weight a few times as a flyweight.
"We apologize to Cody," Lineker posted on his Instagram. "I know how bad it is to do all the preparation and not be able to fight. It affects all of us, but there are things we can’t avoid. Now we have to wait for the fight to be rescheduled."
UFC Fight Night 83 takes place at the Consol Energy Center and features Donald Cerrone vs. Alex Oliveira in the main event.
