A pair of surging bantamweights will get a chance to state their case for a title shot on Jan. 28.
Julianna Pena and Valentina Shevchenko will square off in the main event of the UFC on FOX 23 card at Denver's Pepsi Center. MMAFighting.com confirmed an initial report by FOXSports.com.
Pena (8-2) burst into the scene in The Ultimate Fighter 18, where she won the first-ever TUF women's tournament. She's 4-0 in official competition, with her most recent and most impressive victory to date coming at UFC 200, where she overcame a slow start and rallied for a unanimous decision over Cat Zingano.
Shevchenko (15-2), meanwhile, is 2-1 in the UFC, with her only loss coming to current champion Amanda Nunes. Shevchenko show ever herself to be a legit contender with an eye-opening five-round decision over former champion Holly Holm in July.
